Just a reminder that during the month of March, OLV is sponsoring a Book Drive to help Rx for Reading Detroit. This non-profit organization works to create free community libraries in low-income health, dental, WIC and homeless shelters in the Detroit community. This Monday, March 2, families can start bringing in new or gently used books that range from babies to teens. Start looking through your personal book collection and determine if you have books to give to this worthwhile organization. If you would like to learn more about this organization, please go to rxreading.org.
The Dr. Seuss character day is Friday, March 6. This will give students a little more time, as well to decide what they would like to wear to celebrate our Reading Month kick off.
Another special activity for Reading Month is “Caught you Reading.” We have many students who enjoy reading at home and these students can be entered into a raffle here at school. Parents as you “catch” your child reading to a sibling, a pet, or snuggled up with a good book just take a photo of them and send it to the school. Email this picture to Ms. Martin ([email protected]) and one student will be randomly selected at the end of the month to win a prize. Good Luck.
Let’s “Get in the Reading Game!”
