The Second Grade Music class is designed to develop skill in students by building on the introduction to concepts in Grade 1.
Topics for this weekly course will include:
Pitch: Students can recognize high and low and reproduce musical sounds they hear.
Rhythm: Students start to recognize patterns and ways to read musical rhythms.
Performing: Through song and instruments
Listening: Learn to follow a listening chart.
Relationship to all arts: Music in the world around us in various forms.
Students are introduced to the Orff Instruments on a regular basis as part of our classroom instruction.
Students also work on how to read hymns in "Gather" more proficiently.
In the Spring, we typically work on songs about transportation, examples:
Michael Row the Boat Ashore
Down the Ohio
She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain
