The First Grade Music class is designed to build on the introduction to music previously found in Kindergarten:

Topics for this weekly course will include working toward mastering:

Pitch: The up and down of notes
Rhythm: Timing in music, reading quarter notes, eighth notes, and rests.
Performing: Through song and instruments
Listening: How to listen to music with a plan, introduction to all kinds of music
Relationship to all arts: How does music relate to all arts? 

Songs of our Country are introduced in the Spring each year, examples include:
